New Indian Regime Will Long Delayed Deals



A lack of decision-making on large Indian defense procurement deals in the past two years is expected to end with the swearing-in of the new government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Changes in procurement and offset policies are also expected.

RAAF : $12b Jet 'Investment'







In anti-budget rallies, protesters have loudly demanded the government spend more money on health, welfare and education and not $12 billion on new jet fighters.

So how does RAAF chief Air Marshal Geoff Brown respond to that one?

'Security is one of the fundamental responsibilities of government. The unfortunate thing with defence is that the debt that you actually owe the future needs to be paid today,' he said.

Addressing a dinner of the air power think tank the Williams Foundation, he said the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter was a 30-40 years investment in capability.

Pakistan Air Force gets F-16 squadron






ISLAMABAD:  With the inclusion of a new squadron of F-16s in the fleet, the Pakistan Air Force continues its quest for sought-after fighter aircraft.

The PAF recently purchased over a dozen American-built F-16s from Jordan to boost its strength. Eleven of these aircraft joined the PAF squad at the Mushaf airbase in Sargodha yesterday.

With this, the total number of F-16 aircraft in the PAF is said to have reached around 80, thought to be more than sufficient to lead an aerial offence or defence tactic.

Beijing boost Military Relation with Iran


 — China wants deeper defense ties with Iran, Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan told his Iranian counterpart on Monday, according to Chinese state media, as Beijing moves to cement already close ties with a major oil supplier.

Chang told Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehqan the development of bilateral relations has "remained positive and steady, featuring frequent high-level exchanges and deepened political mutual trust,” the official Xinhua news agency said.

US Army Certify TALON Laser-Guided Rocket on Apache Helicopter



Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) and the U.S. Army have completed the certification process for air worthiness release (AWR) of the TALON Laser-Guided Rocket (LGR) on the Apache AH-64D/E Attack helicopter. The AWR certification provides for potential operational employment of the TALON weapon system on U.S. Army Apaches and Apaches in international fleets.

Air Weapon : Sidewinder




South Korea recently ordered over 76 AIM-9X Block 2 Sidewinder air-to-air heat seeking missiles and 24 CATM-9X-2 Captive Air Training Missiles and various other accessories all for about $98 million. The CATM look like the actual missile but cannot launch and are carried on aircraft for training purposes and can do everything but launch. Some training does consists of actually launching missiles and that’s why South Korea has to regularly order more Sidewinders. South Korea has used this missile for decades and is a satisfied customer.

These were mainly aimed at export customers as a successors to the AMX-13 light tank and family of light armored vehicles. At some point this project was renamed to Mars 15.

BENGHAZI : Gunmen stormed police headquarters in Libya’s second city Benghazi before dawn on Friday sparking fighting in several districts that killed at least five soldiers, medical and military sources said.

Contract by Raytheon to Support U.S. Navy’s Air and Missile Defense Radar Program





Syracuse, NY – Anaren, Inc. announced that it has been awarded an $8.3 million contract from Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems to support the initial Engineering and Manufacturing Development (E&MD) phase of Raytheon’s contract for the U.S. Navy’s nextgeneration integrated Air and Missile Defense Radar (AMDR).

Slaviansk: Ukraine has launched a military assault on the flashpoint town of Slaviansk, raising the stakes in the showdown with Russia, which has vowed "catastrophic consequences" if Kiev stepped up operations.
Insurgents shot down two army helicopters, killing two servicemen, including a pilot, as the army tightened its noose around the rebel-held town of 160,000 people.

British Troops Fly to Estonia



Around 100 British troops will fly into Estonia for military exercises as Britain and its Nato allies try to reassure the Baltic states they will be protected against Russian aggression.

TK-X ( Japan )


The TK-X or Type 10 is the latest Japanese development. It entered service in 2012. Currently it is one of the most advanced main battle tanks in the world.
This new lightweight MBT is more agile, however less protected than contemporary tanks.
 It is armed with a 120-mm smoothbore gun, broadly similar to that of the Leopard 2A5 and M1A2  Abrams. It also has advanced fire control system.
This tank has great mobility due to it's impressive power-to-weight ratio, Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and state-of-the-art hydropneumatic suspension.
 The TK-X is in service with Japan (12). This tank is not available for export customers as far as Japan's laws do not allow export of military equipment.

Israel's fighter jets spying on enemy targets





The Israel Air Force shed some light on its fighter jet reconnaissance and surveillance capabilities, revealing on Tuesday that one of its F-15 squadrons frequently uses advanced, long-range cameras to photograph enemy targets without leaving Israeli air space.
The Double Tail Knights Squadron, which flies out of Tel Nof Air Base, south of Rehovot, dedicates a significant amount of its operations to aerial intelligence gathering, senior members of the squadron said.

Iran MBT




In 2014 a new tank was revealed in Iran. It is an upgraded version of the US M47M Patton medium tank. It has a new turret with a 105-mm gun. Also it has new fire control system and a number of other improvements. The new tank is named after a Sabalan mountain.
